Brilliance is a word not uncommon to the watches that Swiss major Rolex has been offering to the world and it is not an alien word to the world of sports and sportspersons either. But when the watch is Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master II and sportsperson is Kobe Bryant, the word brilliance is completely synonymous to both. If GMT Master II takes the highest traditions of Rolex to higher levels then Kobe is the most appropriate torch bearer of the best in the Basketball arena. Watches and their makers are countless in number but GMT Master II has always managed to stand out and stand firmly against the very best in the world. Exactly the same is true in case of National Basketball Association (NBA) and its star athletes among whom Kobe stands as the ‘tallest.’ There is not even an iota of doubt that Kobe Bryant and Rolex GMT Master II have the marks of brilliance.
The hugely successful and popular Kobe Bean Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. That he was destined to be a star basket ball player can be traced to his genes as his father Joe Bryant was a former Philadelphia 76ers player and LA Sparks head coach. His childhood years were spread over different continents for when he was six his father and his family shifted to Italy. He started playing basketball when he was only 3 and while in Italy he also learnt to play soccer. During those years he would be back in US during the summers for the basketball summer league. In the year 1991 the family moved back to US with the future basketball star sticking to basketball and not soccer, which then did seem like a possibility.
He started showing signs of what he was going to achieve in the future even while studying in Lower Merion High School when he won the 1995 senior MVP award at Adidas ABCD camp. He followed it by leading the Aces to their first state championship in more than five decades in his final year. He ended up becoming an all-time leading scorer for the Southeastern Pennsylvania. He was awarded the McDonald’s All-American and the USA Today All-USA First Team, among other awards for his exploits in the final year. But his best was yet to come. In 1996 when he was only 17 he was drafted into the NBA and thus began the saga of hitherto unseen brilliance. He started off with the Charlotte Hornets and became the youngest player ever to play and start an NBA game. In 1997 he won the Slam Dunk Contest and was also chosen for the NBA All Rookie second team. In his second season he finished as runners-up for NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award and fans chose him as an NBA All-Star making him the youngest starter in the whole history of NBA. His performance always was brilliant and that showed throughout the years that he has been playing and won him awards and accolades. He topped all that by winning the MVP 2008 and now taking LA Lakers to the NBA championship title, which was his fourth and also came after a long gap of seven years. The world of sports respects him for his out-of-this-world performances.
The same kind of brilliance is the hallmark of Rolex GMT Master II watch as well. The sports watch ensures you can check the time for two different time zones through its 24-hour and 12-hour independent hands. The watch is waterproof up to a depth of 100 m and is self winding. With its black dial, Oysterlock bracelet, certified chronometer and awesome performance this watch like Kobe Bryant is absolutely brilliant.

Yo, Tony Soprano wears a gold Rolex Day-Date Presidential with a Champagne Stick Dial. Any of you chumps got a problem with dat? In truth, New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano from David Chase’s hit HBO series is just about the last guy in the world anyone would want to have a problem with. Played to perfection by James Gandolfini, Tony Soprano arguably is the greatest mob character ever to exclusively grace the television market. Naturally, if the question were expanded to the silver screen, Tony Soprano would have a lot of competition from classic Godfathers and modern-day Goodfellas. In terms of Tony Soprano’s Rolex Day-Date Presidential, the choice of such a class-A luxury watch has been commented on across the Internet from Wikipedia to the Yahoo Answers. The choice has not, however, been commented on nearly as much as the Internet storm raised by the show’s controversial ending in 2007. In the final episode, after the killing of crime boss Phil Leotardo, the threat from the New York mob is presumably extinguished. Finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, Tony meets up with his family (wife Carmela, daughter Meadow, and son A.J.) for a casual dinner at a local New Jersey diner. After they sit down and prepare to order, the final show then suddenly cuts to black and the credits roll in silence. Rather than a big shoot-em-up where Tony gets his due or a symbolic passing of the torch to his son, the beloved series ended on an anticlimactic note. Such an ending infuriated long-time fans that felt they were cheated of a sense of closure and left hanging in the dark. Then again, when did Tony Soprano (or series creator David Chase) ever promise those so-called fans much of anything?
Beyond the controversial ending, the good news is that you do not have to be a mob boss to wear a gold Rolex Day-Date Presidential with a Champagne Stick Dial. Whether Tony Soprano bought the Rolex Presidential new or happened to be given the luxury watch after it “fell of a truck”, there is a hint in the show that such a Rolex watch is too expensive for the average Joe to wear. Luckily, thanks to Melrose Jewelers, you can wear a gold Rolex Day-Date Presidential or a gold Rolex Day-Date Presidential with diamonds (and more bling than Tony Soprano ever had) without breaking the bank. With sales that offer such luxury watches at under half the normal cost, Melrose Jewelers wants to give you the opportunity to feel like a mob boss without having to commit any crimes or rub anyone out. Why did Tony Soprano wear a gold Rolex Day-Date Presidential with a Champagne Stick Dial? The answer is that such a Rolex watch represents the success and power of a great man. Okay, Tony Soprano was criminal, but he still was America’s favorite criminal for over half a decade, and the achievement is reflected in his gold Rolex Day-Date Presidential with a Champagne Stick Dial. A Rolex Day-Date Presidential is the ultimate symbol of success, and you deserve to have one on your wrist today.

As a former pilot, there are two watches that represent the absolute finest gear for flying: the Omega X-33, and Breitling Aerospace. Both are quartz and analog/digital, and have very different looks. Today’s post is about a very similar watch that has a much more reasonable price tag to the Aerospace, the Victorinox Swiss Army Classic XLS MT. I’ve not yet confirmed this, but I strongly suspect that it has the exact same movement as the Aerospace, the ETA 988.432, making it one heck of a deal. Specifications of the Victorinox are:
